Each year at the end of the hunting season these animals suffer a systematic mass murder as more than 8,000 of them are being abandonned, hanged, mutilated, run over, burned alive, suffocated and many other hideous ways of getting rid of them...
Sometimes they are shot and presumed dead, and their agony lasts for weeks until they die.
The more clumsy galgos suffer a cruel punishment : they are hanged from a rope that allows their paws to almost touch the ground so they desperately scramble for a foothold until they are overcome with exhausting and die strangled.
The "useful" galgos are being bred and kept under extremely cramped conditions : they are kept in holes or stables, fed bread and water, not checked by a veterinarian, carelessly, and mistreated continuously.
